The End of Summer

We did our best to enjoy the last few weeks of summer, though most are already saying its fall as soon as September hits we know that Fall doesn't start until the day (or two) after Waylon's birthday.

Our garden had somewhat of a slow start but that meant we had lots of tomatoes and strawberries to enjoy once we were home. Jotham loved getting to eat what we had grown. We also had some fun playing with bubbles on the deck. Amariah loves climbing and found innovative ways to climb up to reach things off the island. She started this new thing where she'd get sleepy after eating and then climb on the floor with a toy and fall asleep, she'd usually be up to finish eating after a few minutes. And I just couldn't resist taking a picture of her little heart bum sticking up while she had a nap in her crib, that's definitely her preferred position to sleep.
And the summer just wouldn't have been complete without a trip to the ER. Amariah had been on her climber on the deck playing with Jotham while Waylon was bbq'ing, I was out checking on them and going back in getting other things ready. I'd taken her off the climber since she wasn't super steady up there, but she got back on, and Waylon watched her fall head first onto the deck. He didn't like the way she landed on her head/neck, so he said we're going to the hospital. He kept her neck and head still so she didn't hurt herself any worse, we turned off the bbq and headed off. It was a bit strange having her in the front with us and not in her car seat. By the time we saw the doctor (which wasn't too long) she was moving and wanting to be free. She had a good bump right on her forehead and another farther back (which is hard to see in the pictures). She did not like getting the x-ray, but the doctor wanted to be sure she was ok. We were given orders to wake her up at least once fully during the night and given a sheet called "Your child was just checked for a suspected head injury". The nurses gave her a bear to play with while we were waiting. By the time we got home our supper was done perfectly and still hot in the bbq. The wading pool was open for one last swim before school began the next day, Jotham had fun playing with friends while Amariah and I played together. We also made sure to have fun building with lego while we still had extra time before school started.
Amariah had fun dancing with Daddy to the music after we had watched a movie (not sure what we were watching). The next morning Jotham was off to school, we'd already brought his backpack with all his supplies at the backpack bbq a few days earlier.  We walked to and from the first few days while the weather was still nice.
That weekend we were off for our church family camp. Amariah may not have been walking yet, but she was loving dancing during worship time. It was great to get away and spend time with our church family. Amariah got new shoes since we thought she'd be walking soon and wanted a good first pair of walking shoes, though she's still not walking all the time yet - at least the box is fun to play with. But she does look supper cute in one of Jotham's old outfits. Amariah also discovered the tupperware cupboard and how fun that can be. Jotham's been having lots of fun colouring and found some old pictures Daddy had drawn (for daycare) to colour.
We had lots of fun celebrating Amariah's friend Hunter's birthday. The kids were all so cute eating their cupcakes, the monster fur icing was messy so we took them outside to eat. Amariah playing in the ball pit at church. We went for a walk and stopped at the toddler park on the way home to play. Amariah got to go down the big slide too (there's a video). One morning while doing Amariah's hair she kept giving me hair clips to put in, so she ended up with 6 or 7. She was pretty pleased with it.
Amariah was super excited to get the new wrap we ordered. She loves it and wanted to go up in it right away. I love how comfy it is for both of us and super pretty too.
Amariah loves sitting in things she shouldn't like baby car seats and toy bins. For Waylon's birthday Jotham made him breakfast all on his own, a piece of toast :) and Amariah made sure to wear her "My heart belongs to Daddy" outfit just for him. That afternoon Jotham and I went to see the movie "Planes" while Amariah and Daddy had fun together, and then in the evening Jotham and Waylon went to a play while Amariah helped me with the dishes. Waylon got to go to a riders game with a friend the next day, he'd been given free tickets from a coworker. Waylon was cheering for the wrong team, fortunately BC won at the last second (literally) which made for a very happy little boy in this house.
Daddy and Amariah all ready to go for a walk in the wrap with Jotham while I went to Bible study. Amariah all ready to do some dancing, she even picked her own headband. We went to a fun little park just across the border right by the fedex where we were picking up a package.
The next week I headed out to Bible study Waylon had a strawberry attacking an elephant for a while, but by the time I got home Amariah was fast asleep in his arms. Amariah continues to find things she shouldn't climb into, like my clean laundry baskets. Amariah also discovered the fun of photobooth on the ipad, she likes taking pictures of herself and the ceiling. Jotham started gymnastics, so far its been ok, but because he has a later birthday most of the kids are younger since he wasn't 6 when it started.
So that was the last bit of our summer, next up fall....
