Amariah was dedicated yesterday, exactly 5 years from when Jotham was dedicated (and on Grandma's birthday). Our church has the tradition of writing a letter for your child on their dedication that is to be given to them on their 12th birthday. This is her letter...
Our Precious Amariah Lia Meredith,
Our Precious Amariah Lia Meredith,
You sweet baby girl are our promise of good news and were
longed for and prayed for long before you became a part of our family. It was
with great joy and thankfulness that on August 21st we welcomed our first
daughter into our hearts and home. We know that you are a wonderful gift that
God has given us and today we give you back to Him.
The night before we knew for sure that Mommy was pregnant
with you she asked God what Bible verse would be your life verse. The verse
that God reminded her of is Isaiah 52:7 - How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of
those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who
proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!” This verse gave
us hope that we would get to hold you in our arms and bring you home. It is
also part of why we picked your name. Amariah Lia means, “God has promised a bringer of good news”.
It is our hope and prayer that you will live this verse out in your life. That
your life will be surrounded by peace, that you would bring the good news and
share the gift of salvation through Jesus with those you meet. And if you need
to live near mountains to do so, that’s ok too.
Today we dedicate your life to the Lord, and ourselves as
your parents to raise you in a way that pleases God. It is our desire to see
you grow up and fall in love with Jesus and accept him as your personal
Saviour. We commit to praying for you, teaching you about God, and sharing with
you what he has done in our lives. We are excited to see what God will do in
and through your life. We love you so much and treasure each day we are given
with you.
Love Mommy and Daddy
