Birthday Adventures

We had one early birthday adventure, and took Jotham to the indoor water slides in Minot the Monday before his birthday. We were a bit disappointed when we arrived to discover that they didn't open until 4 and we were planning on leaving by 5:30 (the message I listened to said they opened at 10, but apparently that's just weekends). Thankfully because we don't have a time change in Sask. it was an hour later in Minot so we only had just over an hour and half to wait, and would still have time for our Cold Stone ice cream after swimming. The water slides are attached to a hotel which is in the mall, so we headed off to Target and other stores we don't have around here while we waited to go swimming.

Jotham loved the water slides and playing in the kids area, he had so much fun. We decided to only get the hour long pass which was enough time, though I'm sure Jotham would have stayed longer if we let him. Here are some pictures of the day and a collection of video clips of our fun. The video has a lot of background noise but you can hear Jotham a bit. And our ice cream after was delicious as it always is as Cold Stone.

I took one last picture of my one year old after he went to bed on the 23rd. On the 24th Jotham woke up and had a yummy breakfast of Lucky Charms (or Mommy's cereal as he calls it). Waylon got him dressed and then he got to open up his gift from us - the whole McDonald's collection of transformers. They are perfect for Jotham, they have no weapons on them and are super easy to transform, even I can do them. (Kim and Andrea - Waylon would even let you transform these without supervision).
Our next adventure was to bake Jotham's cake. He chose the rainbow bit cake mix and did a great job helping me put in the ingredients and mix it all together, and make silly faces for daddy to take pictures of.
The cake came out of the oven looking great, but had a little mishap as Waylon was trying to get it out of the pan. Here is Jotham enjoying is birthday lunch of "croni" and hot dogs.
During Jotham's nap, Waylon began decorating the cakes. We decided to put the broken cake into different dishes that would work for how we wanted to decorate them. Waylon then began his job of making Bob and Larry. He did an excellent job, I take no credit for it, I'm not a cake decorator and have no desire to be. Jotham loved the cakes and knew exactly who they were - Tango and Bumber.
After Jotham's nap and an episode of Veggie Tales we bundled up and headed out to a park, Jotham asked for swings so we made sure to go a park that has them. He had a great time playing in spite of the cold.
We took Jotham out for a special birthday supper to Boston Pizza. Jotham picked the little cheeseburgers for his supper, he was most excited about getting to have the juice that came with his meal. He also got a brownie and ice cream as a special birthday treat and the staff sang him a birthday song. He wasn't so sure what to think about all the people singing to him, but he didn't cry at them so that was good. We attempted to get it on video but the wrong buttons were pressed it seems. After we got home we continued to watch the hockey game we'd been watching at the restaurant and also did some hand and footprints. It was then time for birthday cake. We sang to Jotham and then he blew out the candle all on his own, we just had to tell him it was hot so of course he would blow on it then. And as it was a Veggie Tales cake it only made sense to watch an episode while eating Bob. Jotham had a fun birthday bath complete with bath felts (which are much better than the bath crayons - less falling apart). And then a family picture with Moose.
During Jotham's bath, Uncle Tim video phoned and asked to talk to Jotham. So I brought the computer over to the tub. Uncle Tim told Jotham that for his birthday him and Aunty Charlotte were giving him a cousin. At first we thought he meant in a few days, but no, he meant already. Iain Isaiah Froese was born at 8:33 EST weighing 7 lbs 10 oz. We are so excited that Isaiah is here, and it's fun that Jotham shares a birthday with a cousin as I also share a birthday with one of my cousins (though we're also the same year). With the time adjusting Isaiah was born 44 minutes before Jotham's time of 6:17 PST, so they are very close to being exactly 2 years apart. We're so excited for Tim, Char and Myra. We got to meet Isaiah over skype the other day, he's a cutie don't you think?
So thats all for Jotham's 2nd Birthday adventures. We had a great day hanging out together, unitl next time...

Josiah loved Jotham's cake, as veggie tales is his favorite thing right now. "Bob tomato and Larry the cucumber!!!".
