BC Trip

We woke up at 4:30 on June 29th and began our road trip adventure. We were on the road by 5:15 and made it to Calgary by 3:00. Jotham is a great little traveller and we managed to only need to stop twice the first day. 

We had some time while waiting for our friends to get home so we went for a walk and stopped by a playground, Jotham loved the slide. 

We had a great visit with our friends Mark and Christina. Jotham loved playing with their dog Chicklette, I was going to get a picture of Jotham and Chicklette, but ended up forgetting. We got up at 4:30 again the next morning and were on the road by 5. We had a longer drive but BC is an hour ahead so that made up some time. We had a few more stops this trip, switching driving and Jotham telling us he needed his diaper changed (which was dry), and waiting in construction zones, but we made it Jon and Ang's around 3ish (BC time).  We were very excited to see the mountains and to be back in BC.
Tuesday evening was our one chance to visit with Tim, Charlotte and Myra so visit we did. After a delicious Red Robin's supper, we hung out where they were staying and then went for a walk around Fish Trap. Jotham and Myra had lots of fun playing together, there was lots of loud squealing and laughter. We of course needed to take some pictures of them together. We had a great visit with them and were very happy it worked that our trips overlapped for a day. 
Wednesday we relaxed in the morning as we recovered from driving. We ventured out for a walk around Sardis and may have gotten a bit lost while walking around the Garrison, too much construction going on and roads being fenced off. Lynnea's first birthday party was that afternoon, we had lots of fun visiting and celebrating her first year. Jotham had a lot of fun playing with the kids and was very excited to play in the pool. Jotham was too busy partying in the afternoon to take a nap, so when we headed out to Abby to visit some friends he fell asleep in the car. I think he would have been content if we'd left him there, but after two hours or more we decided we should wake him up so he would sleep in the night, he wasn't impressed with our plan and took a while to cheer up. We were still able to have a good visit and Waylon even won the game we were playing. 

Thursday we headed out to langley and stopped by both the Myert offices so Waylon could say hi to his friends who are still there, and then we were off to the waterpark to meet some friends. Jotham loved playing in the water and in the little creek. Avery and Alyssa were chillin' out in the shade while the boys played. We had a great afternoon in Langley and the went out for supper and spent the evening visiting with more friends. 
Friday was a less busy day so we went out to Winners and Costco, we had  some yummy samples for lunch while at Costco and Jotham and I shared an ice cream cone before we left. We hung out with Chris and Nicole in the afternoon. Jotham was having a hard time napping, so after falling asleep in the stroller he slept until we woke him up to go to a friends for supper which was over 2 hours. The picture with Waylon above is from our friday night visit. We had a great time catching up with friends once again. 

Saturday Jotham reminded us that he doesn't like to go on a trip without getting sick. He was fine for the first 10 minutes he woke up and then started crying and saying "neck, neck" while reaching for his neck. I had no idea what was up, but this lasted for an hour before he finally fell asleep again. We were hoping he would be fine when he woke up, but he was still crying, so off to the walk in clinic we went. It was thankfully not busy at all, so we got in right away. The doctor said Jotham had Wry Neck - basically a stiff neck- Auntie Angela had mentioned wry neck while we were trying to figure out what his problem was.  He would only stop crying if he had his head down on our shoulder or while he was resting his head in is carseat. He had a little bit of an ear infection too, but that wasn't what was causing him so much pain. So the doctor gave us a few bottles of advil and motrin and a prescription for his ear and we were off. Kim and Andrea met us a the clinic as we had planned to meet to hang out, and after we got his prescription filled we headed out for a walk. Jotham was content laying down in his stroller and fell asleep shortly after we left. None of us expected to walk quite as far as we did, it ended up being an almost 3 hour walk, with a stop at the river and then dairy queen for some food. We had a good time visiting though and got some good exercise and sun.  That afternoon we hung out with Jon and Ang and Jotham finally gave Lynnea her birthday present, (a Cabbage Patch Kid  - I was pretty excited about it, but didn't get any pictures once again). We had a great time hanging out, eating yummy food and even managed to play a game once the kids were in bed. 

On Sunday we headed out to Mission to spend the day with Waylon's family. After a delicious brunch the kids napped and we played a train game, that was fun but long. Jotham slept the whole time though, so that was good. We went for a walk after that and looked at all the new homes in the neighbourhood, we even found a playground that Jotham could play on for a bit. Monday we packed up all our things and were off on our next drive, but first stopped in at Camp Squeah. This was the first time Jotham had ever been there, it was almost 2 years since I'd been there and over a year since Waylon had. Things sure looked different, but we were able to have a tour and while it is different it does look really good, and we look forward to staying in one of the new buildings some day. We went for a walk up to chapel and Jotham fell asleep while him and Waylon went to check out the former clear cut. 
We continued our drive up to my parents place. Jotham didn't want to sleep after his 15 minutes nap in the wrap, so we stopped for lunch in Lytton and then he slept until we were 5 minutes from their house. We had a good time visiting and relaxing and enjoyed not need to drive at all on Tuesday. Jotham had fun playing with "Grammie", and enjoyed jumping on the rebounder (one of those little trampolines). We also looked at the flowers outside and ate some ice cream (aka "ow fream").
On Wednesday we drove up to Heffley Lake to visit my vintage friend Crystal and her boyfriend Dean. It was nice to see the Lakehouse and meet the dogs. Jotham wasn't quite so sure about theses dogs since there were two of them, and they  are probably triple his weight, unlike Chicklette who was probably half his weight or less. He wanted to see them, but not too close. We had a good visit with them, and the next day headed for Calgary. Only two driving days left. The drive went well, Jotham continued to nap well during the drive and we enjoyed driving thru the mountains once again. We stopped in Field BC for a rest and to check out the gift shop. We stayed with Brianne and Todd in Calgary that night, Brianne and I used to work with at daycare together,  the two of us were pregnant with our little miracle babies at the same time, it was so nice to meet each others baby (toddler), and  for our boys to meet each other and nice to catch up too. Jotham and Wyatt had lots of fun playing together in the evening, and by the next day Jotham started saying train instead of car when we saw a  train (they had been playing with trains in the evening but Jotham doesn't have any trains so he just called them all cars). 
We got up early once again, 4:30 and were off as quick as we could. Jotham wasn't so happy about being up that early, but fell asleep shortly after we left. Waylon and I were both so tired, probably because we were on BC time, so it was like we got up at 3:30, so we had short driving shifts for the morning. We stopped for breakfast which helped some, but were both still very sleepy, so we stopped for a walk in Swift Current. We had seen a sign for a Mennonite heritage village so we looked for that, it was closed though until the afternoon, so we looked at it through the fence and walked around the other old buildings in the area. We picked up snacks from Walmart and were on our way. We were much more awake then, and I mangaed to drive until Weyburn. We were then only an hour from home. We got home just after 4, and were very happy to be back in our own house, I just wished our house wasn't such a long drive from where were had been. 

So that was our that was our trip. We had a great time visiting everyone and look forward to our trip in September. And if you're wondering about our housing situation read the post below from yesterday...
